The Heathens reached 3-0 atop the Men’s CC Softball League’s first-half standings Thursday with an 11-7 edging of AG Construction at Christmas Hill Park.
A Tito Flores one-out double and a Rick Trujillo triple helped the Heathens to a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to snap a 6-6 tie. Flores and Trujillo each finished with three hits. Tommy Karembela stroked a two-run single in a three-run sixth for the winners.
AG Construction (1-2) kept pace in the early innings by tacking on two runs in the first and three in the second frame. Louie Garcia and Johnny Orosco hit RBI-singles in the opening stanza. Alex Garcia whipped a two-run single and Orosco followed with a run-scoring single in the AG second inning.
Henry Huerta went 4-for-5 and scored twice for AG Construction.
The Stud Muffins snapped a two-game losing streak with a 15-12 nod over Cypress Hill Concrete.
Trailing 10-8 after five, the Muffins pushed across seven runs in the sixth, keyed by a two-run double from Trini Cruz. Steve Aguirre and Cruz each netted three hits for the winners. Jonathan Levesque hit a two-run home run and Matt Mejia lashed two triples and a single for Cypress Hill Concrete (0-3).
The Battle Brothers surprised Frank Vargas Taxes-Fiesta Auto Insurance 22-13 to leave both teams in second place at 2-1.
Michael Cano’s RBI-double highlighted an eight-run first inning for the Battle Brothers. Joe Cano’s two-run double helped the Brothers to a five-run seventh inning.
Shaun Subia went 4-for-4 and Raymond Hernandez powered a double and two singles for Vargas-Fiesta.
Feather Haven (2-0) has a share of first place in the Men’s DD League after an 11-6 win over the Good, Bad and Ugly Friday at Las Animas Park.
Consecutive two-out singles by Bob Reggiani, Dave DeCarlo and Nelson Villanueva ignited a three-run Haven rally in the fifth for a 6-3 lead. Aaron Parker lined a triple and two singles for the winners. James Lopez went 3-for-3 and scored two runs for the 2-1 Good Guys.
Avila’s Market also reached 2-0 with a 20-16 upset of Heinzen Manufacturing.
Dru Ornelas and Chris Theroux each scored four Avila’s Market runs. Theroux and Ralphie Martinez each collected four hits. Isaiah Plaza went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for Heinzen Manufacturing (1-2).
Louie & the Outlaws (2-1) earned a forfeit win over Gil’s FX.
