Gilroy – Williams Dental Lab claimed the 2005 Women’s B League softball title Wednesday by defeating Don’s Vending 16-3 at Las Animas Park.
The Lab, the first-half champion, finished atop the four-team circuit with a 5-1 second-half mark.
Melissa Wilson socked four hits and Cherie Somavia netted a triple and two singles to anchor the Williams attack. Melissa Taku and Kathy Van Hoy each mustered three hits for Don’s Vending.
Handmade Healthcare nabbed the second-place award with a 6-5 edging of Goldsmith’s Seeds. Melissa Howe bagged a two-run home run and Lisa Sanchez added a sacrifice fly as Handmade tallied three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Antoinette Bowe singled and doubled for Goldsmith’s, the first-half C champion.
Pacific Coast Bail Bonds clipped Dutchman’s Pizza 2-1 Wednesday at Gavilan Sports Park to create a three-team tie for first place in the Women’s C League. Dutchman’s and Image & Design Salon-Guy’s Heating will play at 6:30pm Monday at Gavilan, the winner to face Pacific Coast at 7:40pm.
Jen Olvera singled and homered to account for the Bail runs. Angelica Garcia limited Dutchman’s to nine singles, coming within one out of a shut-out.
Toby’s Girls and Kay’s Kids each dropped Women’s D games Wednesday, leaving the teams at 4-1-1 with a replay of a tied game scheduled for Monday at 7:40pm at Las Animas.
Jessica Lopez went 3-for-3 and scored four runs to pace Farmers Insurance past Toby’s Girls 17-15. Rene Rogers went 4-for-5 for Toby’s Girls. Julie Gillespie singled and scored on a grounder in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Energizers past Kay’s Kids 15-14. Mary Solari, Maureen Duggan and Denise Chavez each went 4-for-4 for the Energizers. Stephanie Regalado stroked two doubles for Kay’s Kids.
