Holsapple-DeWaal
Dan and Louise Holsapple, formerly of Hollister, are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter Christina M. Holsapple to Derek DeWaal, the son of Arie and Sandy DeWaal of Madison Wisconsin.
The couple were wed on Oct. 23 at the Ironstone Winery in Murphys. Derek is an analyst with the federal government and Christina is school administrator with the Elk Grove School District. She attended local schools and graduated from San Benito High School in 1995 and graduated from UC Davis. The groom is a graduate of East Bay High School and University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.

Richard and Sheila Callabresi of Maple Hill, Kan. are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Hollister resident Sunny Rose Brawley, to Kevin William Haile, of Hollister. The wedding will take place Nov. 20 at the River Ranch Stables in Hollister with a country-western reception to follow at Bolado Park in Hollister. The bride, manager of California Cafe in Hollister, will wear a Western-inspired white gown for her nuptials to Haile, an employee of South Bay Metals in Gilroy.
The wedding party will include the bride’s sister and matron of honor Franny Andres, as well as bridesmaids Raquel Periera, Kat Kakabeen, Julie Valdez and Mary Lee Moore. Groomsmen include Dan Bell, Tim Periera, Rene Kakabeen and Russell Moore. Chris Lancer will act as best man and the couple will honeymoon at an undisclosed location.

The bride graduated from San Benito High School in 1995, Santa Clara University in 1999 and received her MBA from the University of San Francisco in 2004. The groom graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1995, Santa Clara University in 1999 and the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in 2004. He is employed as an orthodontist in San Jose.

Heather Foreman
The National Tourism Foundation awardedHeather Foreman the 2004 California Scholarship, a $2,000 scholarship. Foreman is a senior at California State University, where she is majoring in special event and tourism management. Foreman planned and excuted large events for Bonfante Gardens Golf & Games and Hecker Pass: A Family Adventure. She is pursuing a degree in travel and tourism.
Military
Michael T. Wolfe
Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Michael T. Wolfe, son of Patricia H. and Danny A. Wolfe of Morgan Hill, recently graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the 14-week course, Wolfe learned a wide range of medical procedures used to provide first aid and assist Navy doctors and nurses. Wolfe’s first assignment after school will involve direct patient care, but with his training, Wolfe can work in several areas. Wolfe is a 2003 graduate of Live Oak High School and joined the Navy in March 2004.
Marc A. Nickerson
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Marc A. Nickerson, son of Jennifer A. Nickerson of Gilroy, along with the marines and sailors of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Iraqi Security Forces recently captured four suspected anti-Iraqi militants in Northern Babil province.
Nickerson’s unit also provided assistance from the MEU’s Force Reconnaissance platoon to Iraqi Special Weapons and Tactics members as well as Iraqi national guardsmen, to help capture a former Baath Party leader and apprehend two men suspected of firing on Marines. Nickerson joined the Marine Corps in March 2002.
Nashia Alvarez
Pvt. Nashia Alvarez, daughter of Charlie and Nancy Alvarez of Hollister, sister of Nicole of Chico and a 2003 graduate of San Benito High School returned home on leave on Oct. 25 for one week before returning to Iraq for another 18 months. Alvarez attended Boot Camp training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. She graduated from AIT Communications course at Fort Gordon, Ga. She is currently stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. as the only female of 300 soldiers. She joined the Army in 2003.
