Molly Martindill and Dan Harder are engaged to be married.

Molly, daughter of Steve and Mildred Martindill of Morgan Hill, graduated from Live Oak High School. She is a student at San Jose State University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in music. She attends school full-time and teaches piano.

Dan, son of Bob and Holly Harder of Windsor, received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minor in miliary science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. Dan is currently based in Missouri for training and expects to be stationed in Germany this summer after he finishes his training.

Molly, who resides in Santa Clara, will join Dan in Germany after the January 2010 wedding.

Moody/Sullivan

Jenny Moody and Brian Sullivan are engaged to be married.

Jenny, daughter of Don and Sandy Moody, received a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Santa Clara University. She is the assistant director, chapters and groups of the Alumni Association at Santa Clara University.

Brian, son of Daniel and Cheryl Sullivan, graduated from Live Oak High School. He is a plumber with Sullivan Plumbing.

Brian and Jenny have known each other ever since Jenny and her family moved to California when she was in the second grade. They rekindled their relationship two years ago and have been inseparable ever since.

The couple were engaged on the eve of their anniversary Nov. 16, 2008, and plan to marry in the spring of 2010.

HONORS

Baldomero Campos Jr.

Pvt. Baldomero Campos Jr. graduated from the 198th Infantry Brigade of The United States Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga. on Feb. 20. He is now stationed in Fort Stewart, Ga.

Pvt. Campos had to pass a physical training test along with other basic combat training tasks which included drill and command/rifle-bayonet fighting,grenade and mortar training, self aid and buddy aid including starting IV’s and chest tubes. He also learned how to use protective masks, clothing and principles of communication.

He is the son of Baldomero and Geronima Campos, of Morgan Hill, brother of Juaquin and Rosa, uncle of Estrella, Eduardo, Ezekiel, Carlitos and Marion.

Joseph E. Aragon

Navy Seaman Recruit Joseph E. Aragon completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is currently attending A-School in Pensacola, Fl.

During the eight-week program, Joseph completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

Joseph was a member of Division 922, an elite Performance Division. He performed in the Honor Guard at three Pass-In-Review ceremonies, including his own graduation.

The capstone event of Navy Basic Training is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. Its distinctly “Navy” flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a sailor.

Joseph is the son of John L. Aragon, Jr. and Lisa A. Aragon, of Morgan Hill, and a 2006 graduate of Sobrato High School.

Eric M. Poth

Navy Seaman Eric M. Poth, son of Pamela A. and Felix M. Poth of Morgan Hill, completed U.S. Navy basic training on May 1, 2009 and was promoted to his current rank at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Eric completed a variety of training, including classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, shipboard and aircraft safety, and more. An emphasis also was placed on physical fitness.

The program culminated in a realistic 12-hour simulator exercise called “Battle Stations.” After promotion, he reported to Nuclear Power Training Command in South Carolina.

Eric is a 2008 graduate of Live Oak High School.

David Renteria

Army Sgt. David G. Renteria has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Renteria is a 1995 graduate of San Benito High School.

Andres Carrillo

Andres Carrillo completed law school and received a degree of Juris Doctor May 15 at the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in Los Angeles.

Andres is the son of Luis and Loretta Carrillo of Gilroy.

Chris Smith

Air Force Airman Chris A. Smith graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Smith is the son of Emmett Smith, and grandson of Marion Smith, both of Morgan Hill. He is a 2005 graduate of Live Oak High School.

Alana Osakia

Alana Osakia, a senior at Gilroy High School, has been awarded a $28,000 scholarship by the Northern California Scholarship Foundations. The recipients are given three requirements: maintain a B average, communication and attend an annual banquet held within a 150 mile radius of his or her college campus.

Elijah Corey Rodriguez

Elijah Corey Rodriguez was born May 4, 2009 at Saint Louise Hospital to Ashley Marie Dorsey and Isaiah Jesus Rodriguez of Gilroy. He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces.
