Mariano Garduque was born Feb. 16, 1912 in the Philippines.

BIRTHDAY: Mariano Garduque: Mariano Garduque celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends. He was born Feb. 16, 1912 in the Philippines. He has four brothers and two sisters. He came to America in 1928 at 16 years old to make a better life for himself, as his family was very poor. Mariano worked hard in the fields for 30 years. In the late ‘50s, he farmed the land he bought in Gilroy. In the ‘60s, he started his own gardening business and worked well into his 80s. He made many trips to the Philippines to visit family and has five children he is very proud of. Mariano is a devout Christian man, enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.

Students named to the Dean’s list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Joseph Davey
Army Spec. Joseph R. Davey has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., as an Honor Graduate and received a Letter of Commendation.
Davey also achieved a score of 342 points on the Army Physical Fitness Test; the highest score in basic combat training class 02-12.
He is the son of Lizanne Davey of Gilroy, and Jim Davey of San Jose. He is a 2004 graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from the University of California, Irvine.
