HONORS: Michelle Callaway: Whittier College senior Michelle Callaway concluded her collegiate cross-country career in impressive fashion. The Gilroy native was given 1st Team Honors by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as well as being named to the SCIAC All-Academic Team.
Callaway earned 1st Team All-SCIAC honors with a seventh place finish and became one of a relatively small number of SCIAC cross country runners, all-time, to achieve First Team All-SCIAC honors all four years. In addition, Callaway was given All NCAA West Regional Honors. This is the fourth such honor for Callaway.
Callaway graduated from Whittier College May 11 with outstanding athlete honors.
Rachel Nin
Denison University student Rachel Nin of Morgan Hill has been inducted into the Denison chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic honorary. Nin is a member of the class of 2012.
Phi Beta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Its campus chapters invite the most outstanding liberal arts and sciences students at America’s leading colleges and universities for induction.

Thais Near
Thais Near of San Martin has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for Spring semester 2012.
Thais qualified for the academic honors society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
