Katharine Padgett of Gilroy, majoring in plant science at California State University, Chico, recently was selected by the Sigma Alpha Agricultural Sorority to receive the Outstanding Member award.
The award is established ot honor a member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and contribution. Padgett was recognized at the 2003 College of Agriculture Recognition Banquet held in May in Chico.
Christiane Franke of Gilroy has been selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., from June 23 to July 3. NYLC is a unique leadership development program for high school students who hav demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Franke will be among 400 outstanding National Scholars from around the country to attend the conference.
The theme of NYLC is The Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today. Throughout the 11-day conference, Franke will interact with key elected officials, plitical appointes and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media and the international community.
