SAN MARTIN – Two San Martin teenagers were injured Saturday night when they were stabbed at the block near San Martin Avenue and Monterey Road.
The two victims, ages 16 and 17, whose names were not released because they are minors, were life-flighted to San Jose Medical Center. One needed an operation and the other was given stitches to close the wounds. The injuries were regarded as non-life threatening but they were held overnight at the hospital.
The stabbing victims and a 16-year old witness were in a car at the 80 block of San Martin Avenue when the assailant approached the vehicle and attacked.
“They said a male subject stabbed one of the male subjects multiple times, for no apparent reason,” Sheriff’s Deputy Terrance Helm said. “A friend got out of the car and tried to help him and was also stabbed multiple times.
“The guy drove the witness home and then drove himself and the other victim to Saint Louise Regional Hospital,” Helm said.
The victims were then sent to San Jose for treatment. The Sheriff’s Department was unclear as to whether the attack was gang related.
“They said they are not gang members, but they have friends who are gang members,” Helm said.
The assailant is described as light-skinned with a tall-medium build, wearing a dark green jacket and dark pants and a hat. No approximate age was given.
Anyone with any information regarding the stabbing should call Sgt. Dean Baker at 808-4500.
