A high-speed pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz that started Monday in San Jose ended in Morgan Hill with two suspects being taken into custody.
The chase started after 8 p.m. when San Jose Police say the occupants of the vehicle reportedly shot at another vehicle off of Mt. Pleasant Road in East San Jose.
SJPD spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol said an officer was in the area at the time of the shooting and began to pursue the suspects, which eventually continued on to Southbound U.S. 101.
At that time, Randol said the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit.
According to Morgan Hill Police, officers were stationed at the freeway entrances to keep traffic away from the police action.
MHPD said a male driver, whose identity was not immediately available, attempted to exit the freeway at the Tennant Avenue off ramp where Morgan Hill Police were waiting.
A large number of San Jose Police, California Highway Patrol and Morgan Hill Police converged on the area, blocking the off ramp temporarily and also blocking one lane on westbound Tennant.
According to police, around 9:30 p.m., the driver came to a stop and a male passenger, whose identity was also not immediately available, fled the vehicle.
MHPD said they captured the passenger in a field along Juan Hernandez Drive a short distance from where the vehicle had stopped.
According to MHPD, the driver surrendered to police inside the vehicle.
SJPD said no one was injured in the alleged shooting and there were no injuries during the pursuit.
