Empty buses

I’m complaining about the empty VTA buses. They have been empty
for 30 or 40 years. My mom and dad live out on Church Avenue in the
rural area of Gilroy and the buses go by at any time of the day
empty.
Empty buses
“I’m complaining about the empty VTA buses. They have been empty for 30 or 40 years. My mom and dad live out on Church Avenue in the rural area of Gilroy and the buses go by at any time of the day empty. I walk the streets and see empty buses. Those buses are $300,000 or $400,000 buses with personnel driving them making $20 an hour. Why not put in buses like Victory Outreach, little bobtail buses so that we don’t have to pay all this diesel fuel and for these big buses? I believe everyone should vote no on this increase Don Gage wants to put on the ballot. That’s it.”
Red Phone:
The county has already hopped on board with the shuttle bus idea, though not necessarily for the reasons you may be thinking.
“I think gas consumption may be an element, but accessibility is the primary reason for considering smaller shuttle-type buses,” said Jayme Kunz, spokeswoman for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
She said the VTA and various leaders of community service organizations are putting together plans to improve public transportation options in Gilroy, and the idea of shuttle buses connecting various neighborhoods to main bus lines has broad support.
The only hurdle is getting funding for the project, which the county hopes to receive in coming months from the regional Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
Seeing stars
“It’s not a complaint or anything. I read faithfully, everyday, the horoscope for the day. At the end of each horoscope, there is always two stars, three stars, four stars. Can you explain what the stars mean? Is it the better (or more) stars, the better your horoscope or what? Thank you.”
Red Phone:
It tried to find the “correct” answer by searching the Web site the Dispatch gets the horoscopes from, to no avail – unless it calls astrologist Eugina Last – who writes the horoscopes – for $1.99 a minute.
It’s Red Phone’s guess, however, that the stars simply represent the quality of the day. So caller, in your faithful following of the zodiac signs, you likely would want a four-star day.
Setting it straight
“I’m calling about the Dispatch article, A Labor of Lawn on March 15. Our home was featured in that with the bicycle on the front and on back page, it was the large flower. The address was listed as Laurel Drive and it’s actually Benassi Drive in Gilroy. That also goes for the March 8 Mailbox Madness, our mailbox was also in that with the wrong address. That is also Benassi. Just wanted to let you know and we enjoyed the pictures. Thank you.”
Red Phone:
You got it, caller. It was informed though, that several calls were made to you and note even left in the mailbox for you to contact the reporter for some information on your lawn art. It would have been courteous had you returned any one of the calls. However, that does not excuse the error, and Red Phone apologizes and sets the record straight on behalf of the staff. Thanks for the call.
