The 3.6-magnitude temblor struck at 11:45 a.m. about 1 mile north-northeast of Aromas, according to the USGS. The quake occurred about 3.5 miles below the surface and there was no immediate reports of damage.

People reported feeling the quake as far south as Moss Landing and as far north as San Francisco, according the USGS, though these reports were unverified. However, the vast majority of responses by 1 p.m. were centered in the Gilroy, Watsonville, Aromas and Morgan Hill areas.
