QUINCY—Gavilan went 0-2 at the Feather River College Classic Saturday in Quincy.

Gavilan left Sacramento with a split decision. The Rams lost 3-1 to Sacramento City but rebounded with a sweep of Lassen Tuesday at the Sacramento City College Classic.

JUCO Football: Rams eye first win at Yuba

GILROY—If a few things went differently, Gavilan could’ve secured its first win on Sept. 12. One less penalty or fumble, one more completion or tackle and the Rams might’ve headed home victorious. Instead, they fell 32-29 to Mendocino at Christopher High. And coach Mike Dovenberg is determined not to let that happen again.

The current Gavilan Rams soccer team squared off with alumni players during the annual alumni game Aug. 28 at the college. It was the final test for the Rams before kicking off their season Aug. 31 at Butte. 

JUCO Volleyball: United Rams prep for season

GILROY—The camaraderie in the Gavilan College gym Tuesday was undeniable. After each drill, the Rams volleyball players huddled together to acknowledge each other's accomplishments, always ending with a “Go Rams” chant before breaking. That, head coach Kevin Kramer said, is what an entire summer of bonding does for a team.

JUCO Soccer: Gavilan charges into second year under Espinosa

GILROY—When Ricardo Espinosa took over Gavilan’s soccer team last season, he said the odds were already against him. With the recruiting season over prior to his arrival, he had little time to piece together a team and the result was a 2-15-3 record.
