Four league matches remain in front of the Christopher High boys volleyball team. And no matter what happens in those contests, the Cougars, who currently sit one victory out of second place in the Tri-County Athletic League Valley Division, can finish no lower than .500.

The Gilroy girls soccer team beat Watsonville 2-1 at Wednesday.

GILROY — The Gilroy boys volleyball team is taking things one step at a time.

GILROY—Gymnasts Gabby Milano, Alexis Felix, Tiffany Roberts and Sloane Pace are a family—plain and simple. They train together and give each other tips. On the day of competition, they lend each other hair spray and makeup. It’s not until they look down at their uniforms that they remember they come from different high schools.

The Christopher boys basketball team just couldn't overcome the early deficit it found itself in Friday's regular season finale.

Entering their second year at the varsity level, players on the Christopher High boys varsity basketball team weren’t shy in setting lofty goals for the 2011-12 season. If you ask them, the more expectation, the merrier.

Sara Makanani converted 1-of-2 free throws with 5.6 seconds remaining in the game, and after one final defensive stand, North Salinas defeated Gilroy High 40-39 in a gritty Tri-County Athletic League tilt Tuesday in Gilroy.

GILROY — If nothing else, Gilroy’s game against Everett Alvarez was exciting. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, it wasn’t the result they’d hoped for.

Lauren Castro struck out five, walked three and surrendered just one hit in anchoring the Gilroy High softball team's 1-0 victory over Capuchino in nonleague action Tuesday in Gilroy. Not too shabby for her high school debut.
