Ellie Fisher, playing the role of Miss Adelaide, performs during a dress rehearsal for Guys and Dolls Jr. July 18 presented by the Summer Theatre Arts Reperatory Program at the Brownell Middle School multipurpose room.

The STAR (Summer Theatre Arts Repertory) Program was at it again July 18 and 19 when it presented “Guys and Dolls Jr,” a tale set in early 1950s New York with characters consisting of gamblers, missionaries and dancers.
Since 1985, STAR—a summer program for youth 8 to 16 years of age—has been teaching kids the value of the arts and entertaining audiences with quality productions.
In August, STAR participants will present an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” in San Juan Bautista. This tale is set in the Wild West, where twin brothers separated at birth come together unknowingly and have a day of mistaken identities. The show will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 and 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at Casa Maria, 600 First St. in San Juan Bautista.
Can’t make it to the show? Help support the arts in the South Valley—and celebrate the end of summer—at the upcoming STAR-B-QUE fundraiser with games, live music, STAR performances, karaoke, a silent auction and raffles. The fundraiser will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23 at Serena Farms and Gardens, 15220 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now until Aug. 15 and cost $25 for adults and $10 for children (under 12). After Aug. 15, tickets will be available at the door: $30 for adults and $12 for children (under 12). Reservations are required. For tickets or more information, call (669) 888-4148.
