Dear Editor,
To the people of Gilroy, and in particular in the area of Sunset
Gardens, located on the corner of Third Street and Wren Avenue:
We would like you to know that we would never walk in your yard,
go in your backyard or use your garbage can or park in your
driveway.
Dear Editor,
To the people of Gilroy, and in particular in the area of Sunset Gardens, located on the corner of Third Street and Wren Avenue:
We would like you to know that we would never walk in your yard, go in your backyard or use your garbage can or park in your driveway.
We would never take anything from your front porch or take any of your plants, in a pot or in the ground.
We would never sit on any of your benches to sun ourselves or to make love for all to see. We wouldn’t use your yard as a short cut.
My question is why do you do all these things to us? This is our home and anything we have is all that we have and just like you we like to have our privacy.
The Housing Authority does not have the funds to make this a gated community but we are trying on our own to find sponsors to accomplish this.
The kids come through our grounds and pick the fruit and have battles with them. As well as throw papers and the rest of their lunch all over the place. We have had people trying to get into our apartment; people come at 8 or later at night to our door and frighten many of the people. This is an ongoing problem.
El Roble school parents park in our spaces to drop the children off for school, block our driveway, double park and block the street and park in the red zone. We have asked the school and the police for help but we cannot get anywhere. I have lived here for 10 years and stood out in front of the driveway and asked the people not to park in our spaces – they have told me to move or get run over. There are signs posted, but they don’t pay any attention to them either.
This is for seniors with low income and we live here because either we can no longer live in the home we once owned or cannot take care of the up keep or never had a home. We are very much aware of the fact we will live here till it’s our time that we no longer are able to.
We have had homes, cars and raised children just like you. Just like you we wish only to live in peace and a safe environment.
So if you promise to stay out of our yard, we promise to stay out of yours.
