Dear Editor,

I want to express my appreciation to Eloisa Gamez and the workers at the Dayworker Center in Morgan Hill.

I am a 72-year-old retired widow and live alone. My Spanish is very limited!  In the last year I have regularly gone to the dayworker center to obtain help for repairs.  I have had windows and house siding replaced and painted, an ancient corroded gas water heater replaced, a bathroom wall remodeled and plumbing fixtures replaced or repaired.  Every worker I have used has been hard working, honest and some are quite skilled. They are men with families in Mexico who depend on their meager wages for survival.  The $l8 billion a year sent to families in Mexico from the U.S. outweighs the oil revenues of the country and probably keeps the poor from revolting against corrupt local and national governments. These men are here not by choice, but by necessity. Eloise who runs the dayworker center keeps excellent records of each workers’ skills and contact numbers and arranges pick-ups and drop offs and gets feedback from each customer.  I urge all people who cannot afford to hire expensive contractors to do repairs and remodel to call Eloise at 782-1971.  The Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 to 12:30.
