Dear Editor:
Tonight at 7 p.m., the Gilroy High School Band will be giving its final performance of the school year in the GHS Theater. This school year began with the Marching Band/Colorguard’s award-winning season in the fall and has continued throughout the year with stellar performances by its talented musicians. Many of our graduating seniors will be going on to colleges and universities, having learned that hard work, long hours of practice and dedication to their craft are skills that will translate to any pursuit they undertake in life.
Although June 4 is the last music performance of the year, the Band/Colorguard/instrumental music program has activities throughout the year, performing as well as fundraising to keep the program going. You will have a chance to be part of the fundraising effort if you attend the Garlic Festival and share a dish of our delicious BRUSCHETTA, a mix of fresh tomatoes, basil, olive oil, feta cheese and a healthy dose of garlic (of course!) on fresh Francese bread. Our booth will be located in the general area of the amphitheater (not Gourmet Alley). Look for the GHS Band sign.
Last, but not least, thank you to the community – local businesses, families of our students and everyone who believes that music is an integral part of education – for your continued support of our program.
At a time when many schools have no music program at all we know that we are very fortunate to have ours. Again, thanks, and we hope to see you on June 4 and at the Garlic Festival.
