GILROY – City police arrested two men Wednesday evening on suspicion of stabbing a man on the 7500 block of Rogers Lane.

Christian Pierre Gomez, 21, of 7531 Monterey St., and Ramon Romero Diaz, 18, of 500 I.O.O.F. Ave., may be charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

In an argument between the victim and the two suspects, police said one suspect brandished a knife and tried to stab the victim in the abdomen. The victim deflected the knife with his hand, which was cut. The cut looked serious, according to police, but the victim refused medical treatment at the time.

The other suspect was wielding a quart-size glass bottle, police said.

The three men ran to San Ysidro Park, and a witness called police. Officers arrested the suspects at 7:47 p.m., minutes after the incident. Gomez was arrested at the park and Diaz at 451 Lewis St.

Police booked both suspects into county jail, where they remained Thursday.
