This is the good that we hold on to
Last December when I asked our local community for help with collecting toys for children in need, a man I had never met named Bob suddenly appeared and donated three big bags of brand new toys for the Toy Giveaway Christmas Event taking place on Dec. 20 to benefit children in need.
Frost not so frightening, farmers say
Temperatures dove below freezing in South County several nights this week, but local growers don’t expect a significant impact on their crops.
What happened to 72 and sunny? Please don’t forget Nathan’s Toy Drive
That first frigid snap always seems to sneak up on me. It’s 72 and sunny one day and then ... Old Man Winter wakes up and exhales and it’s 26 degrees and I’m running around the yard freezing my derriere off covering the citrus and tender plants. And they say there aren’t seasons in California …
Getting Out: The next challenge: Mt. Tallac
Exactly one year ago, I challenged you. I hoped to either inspire you or provoke you to join me on a rugged hike to the top of Clouds Rest, one of Yosemite's iconic peaks. Last January, when more than one hundred of you came, I knew I had touched a nerve.
Make this holiday the season of giving

Rash transfers from goats to humans
Q: Our 14-year-old daughter developed a rash on her hand and arm. We took her to two different dermatologists before we finally got a diagnosis. She has contagious ecthyma, something I never heard of before. Her dermatologist asked if we have any sheep or goats. We have three new pet goats. He told us that this is a contagious skin disease she caught from those goats. But we checked, and none of the "kids" have any skin condition. Is this a common problem you see very often? Where does it come from? Our daughter is horrified what her friends will think so she wears long sleeves everyday to school.
