Home for the Holidays:   Adoption fees are reduced for kitties 6 months and older to $50 from now through Sunday, January 5th. (extra donations gratefully accepted).  The adoption fee for kitties under 6 months is still $125.  These fees help offset some of our costs to de-worm, de-flea, vaccinate, test, spay/neuter, and micro-chip.  Please help spread the word so our wonderful adoptable companion animals can find the home of their dreams for the holidays.

According to the Persian legend of King Jamshid, wine was discovered about 8,000 years ago. The story goes that the king banished one of his harem girls after she had angered him. The harem girl became so distraught that she searched for something to end her life. Finding a box of old, rotten grapes, labeled “poison” in the kitchen cupboard - she took a deep drink. To her surprise, she started to feel quite happy and no longer wanted to end her life. The harem girl took her discovery to the king - who also tested the grape liquid. After he, too, became quite cheerful, he proclaimed that from that day forward, all grapes grown in his kingdom would be grown for the sole purpose of making wine.

Violated a holiday golden rule once this week – I hurried out of Nob Hill after having a great deli sandwich lunch with my wife and daughter without putting a penny in the Salvation Army kettle. I’ll double up next time, but it’s a good rule. Don’t pass the kettle and the bell ringer without making a gift.
