Mushrooms important year-round in South County

Memorial Day weekend in South County means many residents turn their attention to the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras. Aside from the Mushroom Mardi Gras and occasionally noticing the scent of warm mushroom compost, most people pay little attention to our local mushroom farms the rest of the year. Mushrooms have a lot to offer our local residents and are an important part of our community. Here are some things you probably did not know about our local mushroom farms.

New pastor at Gilroy’s First Baptist Church

Grant Bennett has accepted a position as senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Gilroy. He and his wife, Meghan, along with their young daughter Abby will move to Gilroy at the end of the month, and Grant will conduct his first service at 10:45 a.m. June 1.

Bridge clubs to raise money for Alzheimer’s Association

Members of Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Hollister Bridge Clubs will join hundreds of bridge players across the country to raise money for The Longest Day—an annual fundraising event for Alzheimer’s research held by the American Contract Bridge League and the Alzheimer’s Association.
