6-5 loss.
MONTEREY – The Gavilan College baseball team was on the losing end of a 6-5 final score Tuesday at the hands of Monterey Peninsula College.

The Rams (8-12 overall, 3-3 in conference) were backed by the four-hit, four-RBI performance of freshman outfielder Nick Buzzetta – who also belted a home run.

In a back-and-forth battle, Gavilan took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, fell behind 2-1 in the fifth frame, tied it up 2-2 in the sixth, dropped back 5-2 in the seventh, cut the gap to 5-4 in the eighth before giving up a run in the bottom half of the inning, and scored one run in the ninth.

Freshman utilityman Adam Bearden had three hits, and sophomore infielder Isaak Rodriguez managed two hits.

Gavilan will play host today to West Valley with a 2 p.m. start.
