The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vague threat of violence on the campus of Gavilan College, according to a message posted online Thursday morning by Gavilan administrators.
The campus remains open, and Principal MaryAnn Boylan of the Gilroy Early College Academy located on the Gavilan campus is encouraging students, teachers and staff to remain alert and report suspicious activity, the message reads.
According to Boylan, the school administration received a possible “threat of violence” on a Facebook account the evening of April 24. But there were no clear or specific threats on how, when or where it may occur, she added.
“We take the matter very seriously and are responding appropriately,” Boylan said. Both the Sheriff’s Office and the Gavilan College Security Office will have an established presence in the area, the message states.
