Victor J. Montoya died at his Hollister home Thursday, May 26, 2005. He was 81.
Born in El Valle, New Mexico, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for Tri Valley Growers for 43 years where he was a supervisor. He attended Sunnyslope Christian Center and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 890. In his free time, he liked fishing, gardening and traveling. He loved his family.
He is survived by his children, Richard “Dick” Montoya and his wife Mary Lou of Hollister, Samuel Montoya of Hollister and his son-in-law, Bill Leighty of Hollister; his sister, Androlica Vasquez of Colorado; his brothers, Orlando, Arsenio, Tomas and Joe Montoya all of El Valle, New Mexico; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni, who died in 1995; daughter, Nancy Montoya Leighty; his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Montoya; and his sister Lillian Montoya.
Friends can pay their respects from noon until 8pm on Monday, May 30,2005 at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Sunnyslope Christian Center in Hollister. Interment will follow the funeral services at the IOOF Cemetery.
