Alyssa Castro, 15, and a member of the freshman/Sophomore volleyball team, sits with friends as she waits for the Christopher vs Branham game to begin Saturday during the Dig Pink Tournament to help raise money for Breast Cancer awareness.

Four high schools came together under one roof to show their support for one important cause Saturday night.

Christopher High varsity volleyball played host to Gilroy High, Sobrato High and Branham High (San Jose), and all took part in the Dig Pink Tournament – a fundrasing event in support of The Side-Out Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money for breast cancer research.

“It was definitely an awesome event,” CHS head coach Brian Calimpong said. “We had great support from the local community as well as from Sobrato and Branham.”

Dozens of volunteers created a variety of ways to raise money and collect donations – including a bake sale. All told, about $5,400 was raised Saturday night, all of which will go toward The Side-Out Foundation, Calimpong said.

As for the volleyball matches, Sobrato topped Gilroy in four sets, while Christopher outlasted Branham in five sets.

Donations are still being through The Side-OUt website on Christopher High’s team page.
