A 48-year-old woman was killed early this morning when her vehicle collided with a Dodge Durango on Santa Teresa Boulevard at Day Road West in what police are calling a drunken driving accident.

Julian Navarro-Murillo, 26, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence after he was flown to an area trauma hospital with moderate injuries, Gilroy Police Department Sgt. Jim Gillio said. He is expected to recover.

The accident occurred as the woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was traveling south on Santa Teresa Boulevard about 7:19 a.m. The Durango was traveling northbound. It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, Gillio said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the accident is under investigation.
