VTA CHAIRMAN and Gilroy City Councilman Perry Woodward believes lingering political "bad blood" in San Benito County is holding up a committee tasked with rejuvenating a $130M highway 152/25 improvement project on the books for 20 years and "shovel ready"

At the beginning of each year, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board of Directors appoints members to serve on various VTA committees and advisory boards.

Among VTA’s transportation network are many regional services provided through proactive partnerships with other local transportation agencies – one being the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, which owns and operates Caltrain. This year, VTA Board member and Gilroy City Mayor Pro Tempore Perry Woodward will serve on the Joint Powers Board alongside representatives from the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara.

“I am excited for the opportunity to represent VTA in addition to presenting the valuable perspective from the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill during an era of which major investments are planned to improve the Caltrain system,” said Woodward. “Through this valuable partnership with Caltrain, VTA is able to provide residents and workers of Santa Clara County with a wealth of good transportation alternatives.”

Board member Woodward, representing City Group 4 (the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill) since 2010, will also serve on VTA’s Administration and Finance Committee and on the Audit Committee as he did in 2012. He previously served on VTA’s Policy Advisory Committee representing Gilroy from 2007 to 2009. Woodward was first elected to the Gilroy City Council in 2007.
