Gilroy High alumnus Jesse Delgado, a four-time Central Coast Section champion, four-time state medalist and the 2009 state champion while with the Mustangs wrestling team, qualified for the NCAA National Championships with the No. 5 Illinois Fighting Illini.
Delgado received the No. 4-seed in the 125-pound bracket.
The tournament began Thursday and Delgado won his first two matches by a 6-1 decision and by fall, respectively. he will wrestle Kent State’s Nicholas Bedelyon in the quarterfinals Friday.
