The Gavilan College men’s basketball team continues to show improvement in year two under coach David Kaplansky. The Rams (3-6) recently won back-to-back games, beating Ohlone-Fremont 69-58 on Dec. 4 and Merced 82-71 on Dec. 8. The victories came off the heels of a four-game losing streak.
A year ago, David Kaplansky took over a Gavilan College men’s basketball program that had finished 1-22 the previous season. It’s apparent the former San Benito High coach has steered the Rams in the right direction.
GILROY – College of the Redwoods shook off a fourth-quarter comeback by Gavilan to pull out a 49-43 victory over the Rams in the season finale Saturday afternoon at Christopher High School.
Gavilan’s two second-year leaders on the floor got two drastically different looks at the game a year ago.
GILROY—A young Gavilan team knew it the challenge it faced taking on the undefeated Hartnell Panthers. While it wasn't the result they wanted, the Rams kept the Panthers on their toes for a full 60 minutes Saturday at Christopher High.
After dropping the first set to Chabot Thursday, Gavilan tore through the next three straight to win 3-1 on the road. The Rams won 16-25, 25-17, 25-14, 26-24.
