DEAR EDITOR:
On March 15, the Gilroy Planning Commission had it’s annual retreat at Eagle Ridge. It was a great success. Many issues were discussed and resolved. All items on the agenda were dealt with to the satisfaction of all in attendance.
Even with philosophical differences between members, I am proud to report that this commission can and does work as a team for the betterment of Gilroy. I would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the people behind the success of this retreat. First, thanks to the staff at Eagle Ridge. Their hospitality was greatly appreciated.
Next, thanks to the city staff members in attendance – Wendie Rooney, Bill Faus, Melissa Durkin, Cydney Casper, Gregg Polubinsky and Assistant City Attorney Jolie Houston. Without their support not only on Saturday, but throughout the year, the commission would be hard pressed in to better serve the community. Finally thanks to my fellow commissioners – Joan Lewis, Paul Correa, Belinda Allen, Tom Boe, Cat Tucker and Norman Thompson. Without this diverse group of hard-working team players, I believe that there would be a logjam at the commission level. I cannot express my appreciation to my fellow commissioners for the understanding and respect they have shown to one another over this most trying year.
Russ Valiquette, Chairman, Gilroy Planning Commission
