Democrat fanatics tell lead ammo lies as a passive path to total gun control
Dear Editor,
The (May 24) rant by Mark Sage contained one lie after another. He states that lead ammo has “driven the condor to the brink of extinction.”
It is common knowledge that Sage’s fellow tree-huggers claimed DDT was the cause of the demise of the condor; the lead ploy was conjured up long after their numbers began rising, and before DDT, lead ammo was used when their populations were strong.
Sage then claims with market adjustments non-lead ammo will match current lead prices. Not true.  Lead is cheap and common, unlike any possible replacement.
This is hardly “regardless of political affiliation”, either; every one of these bills have passed on party-line votes. The Democrat, anti-gun fanatics have been trying to find a way to drive the cost of ammo so far up that the common man can no longer afford neither recreational shooting nor hunting. They lost when they tried to ban guns, so they will find a way to ban ammo.
Combine this with the ammo restrictions this legislature has proposed – banning on-line sales, licensing dealers, and annual permission cards – the little that will be available will be unaffordable.
Smokeless powder, tactical and common-caliber loads, and primers have not been available for over six months. If you can actually find any, the price is five to 10 times what it should be. A $20 brick of shotshell primers now goes for $75. A $9 brick of .22LR now costs $70 if you can find it.
Back when the fanatics like Sage started with the condor claim, we predicted their next step would be a statewide ban. We predicted right.
Next, they will be banning all lead ammo for all non-government purposes. The alarmists will claim it is harming recreational shooters, who need to be protected from themselves.  Their kind are already on record for trying to use this excuse to prevent Santa Clara County’s trap and skeet range (on Metcalf Road) from being built. They have used this to try and shut down shooting ranges.
And what will Sage say when copper bullets start killing redwood trees?  Hey, Mike, I’ve already taken out two. Got another metal to try?
