Child abuse
A child claims his mother scratched and bit him during a fight, 6:58 a.m. Sept. 3.
An unidentified person reported a case of child abuse on West 10st Street, 10:12 p.m. Sept. 5.
Assault
A man and a woman had just left the Gilroy Police Department after getting a phone number for family court, 2 p.m. Sept. 3. The woman wanted to go back to her house but the man drove another direction and started driving recklessly. She grabbed the steering wheel and turned the car off. As the woman was grabbing the wheel, the man hit her on her shoulder with his elbow. The woman got out of the car, and the man is believed to be headed to the Fresno area.
An unidentified person on Wayland Lane called police to report past abuse, 9 p.m. Aug. 28. The suspect is currently in custody on a separate incident.
Gang registration
A former gang member registered on Hanna Street, Sept. 3.
Fraud
A thief or thieves took a purse from an open window of a vehicle on Cumberland Drive, 2 p.m. Sept. 3. The credit cards were then used around town.
A thief or thieves made three deductions from a Dowdy resident’s checkbook without the person’s permission, 5:52 p.m. Sept. 3.
A thief or thieves on Camino Arroyo tried to use a stolen Chase credit card number at Wal-Mart, 10 a.m. Sept. 4.
Residential burglary
A burglar or burglars entered an apartment on Princevalle Street and ransacked it, between 7 p.m. Sept. 3 and 6 a.m. Sept. 4. Nothing was taken.
A burglar or burglars entered an unlocked residence on Westwood Drive and stole a black laptop with a design on the cover valued at $750 and a Cannon digital camera valued at $200 from a table near the point of entry, between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 6.
Animal bite
An unidentified person was bit by a dog on Springdale Court, 8 a.m. Aug. 28.
An unidentified person was bit by a cat on Westwood Drive, 5:15 p.m. Aug. 21.
Hit and run
A black 1995 Nissan was involved in a non-injury hit and run accident on Leavesley Road and Murray Avenue, 5:52 p.m. Sept. 4.
A gold 1995 Saturn and a black 2008 Dodge Nitro were involved in a hit and run accident on West Luchessa Avenue and Monterey Street, 9:56 p.m. Sept. 5.
Grand theft

Petty theft
A rear license plate, no. 3MJK632, was stolen off a 1995 Kia Sephia on Bianca Way, 1:56 p.m. Sept. 9.
Injury accident
A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on First Street and Miller Avenue, 3 p.m. Sept. 5. The driver of the vehicle stopped and attempted to assist the victim. The victim declined help and said he or she was not injured. The driver left the scene. The victim later reported injury and was taken to the hospital by his or her mother.
Missing juvenile
A 15-year-old stepson ran away from his home on Solana Drive, 11:30 p.m. Sept. 4.
A girl ran away from her home on IOOF Avenue, 7:50 a.m. Sept. 6.
Auto burglary
A burglar or burglars stole a CD player valued at $150, a Sean John wallet valued at $30, a bottle of Nautica cologne valued at $50 and miscellaneous credit and identification cards from a 1991 Honda Accord on Rosanna Street, between 7 p.m. Sept. 2 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 3.
A burglar or burglars stole $7 in change from a black 1992 Dodge Dakota on Monterey Street, between 7 and 10:30 p.m. Sept. 2.
Vehicle tampering
An unknown person tampered with a Ford Escalade on Greystone Court, between 10 p.m. Sept. 2 and 7 a.m. Sept. 3.
