Carol Jean Schell of Gilroy, CA died on August 1, 2011.
Her son, Robert Schell, wife Erin and a granddaughter, Adelaide of Cherry Valley, CA survive her.
Carol’s mother, Louise VanNahmen, lives in Spearville, KS. Carol is also survived by her sister Deloyce (Dee) McKee (CEIII), Manhattan, KS; a brother, Frank VanNahmen (Kim) of Offerle, KS; a brother, Alan VanNahmen, Columbus, OH; a sister, Ava VanNahmen-Atkinson (John), Clearwater, FL; a brother, Fred VanNahmen (Terry), Cimarron, KS; a brother, Lyle VanNahmen (LaWana) Spearville, KS; and a sister, Deana Froerer (Landell), Huntsville, UT. Her father, Sylvester VanNahmen of Spearville, KS, preceded her in death.
Carol Schell dedicated 18 years of her career to public service for the City of San Jose, CA. She was hired as a staff technician with the Finance Department’s Utility Billing Department in 1992, where she provided customer service to the citizens of San Jose. She quickly advanced to Development Specialist with Housing Rehabilitation team of the Housing Department and one year later became Staff Analyst for the Housing Department’s Human Resource Liaison and Rehabilitation division for eleven years.
Carol’s ability to connect drove her success in the City and in her community. She was an extraordinary friend and supporter to many persons and projects in the Bay area. Carol also worked for the Morgan Hill School District in her earlier career.
Carol, a business major, graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1999.
She was a member of St.Mary parish in Gilroy and the Gilroy Elks Club.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 10:30 A.M. at St Mary Catholic Church Chapel, 11 First Street, Gilroy, CA.
A reception will follow at the Gilroy Elks Club.
