Volunteers needed
for orientation
Gilroy – Students heading to Gilroy High School in the fall are invited to attend an orientation and pick up their class schedule from Tuesday through Thursday. The high school still needs volunteers for the three-day event.
Volunteers may sign up for an all-day shift, from 8:30am to 4:15pm or half day from 8:30am to 12:30pm or 12:30 to 4:15pm. The event will be staged at the GHS Student Center. Freshman are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday morning, while upper classmen are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Last chance to get
school uniforms
Gilroy – The last chance to get Luigi Aprea uniforms before school starts Thursday Aug. 24 is coming up. They are available at the Sport Shack 8881 Muraoka Dr. #1 from 2 to 7pm Thursday, and from 10am to 4pm Tuesday.
Also, from 4 to 8pm Thursday, Aug. 17, they will be available in the multipurpose room at Luigi Aprea School, 9225 Calle Del Rey.

See ‘The Corvairs’ Sunday
Gilroy – “The Corvairs” will perform at Christmas Hill Park Amphitheater, Sunday, from 5 to 7pm. Concert goers can dust off their saddle shoes and penny loafers and enjoy a trip down memory lane, and an evening of music and fun at the park.
Youth volunteers
needed to serve
Gilroy – The Gilroy Youth Commission is looking for volunteers to serve on it’s 11-member board. Any teens, between the ages of 13-19 who reside within the Gilroy Unified School District boundaries, are eligible to join.
Application deadline is Aug.14. Pick up applications at the City of Gilroy Community Services office, 7351 Rosanna St.

Stay in shape on nature jog
Gilroy – Stay in shape while exploring nature with a ranger on a five-mile jog along trails at Coyote-Harvey Bear Ranch County Park Sunday, from 9 to 11am. Meet at office. Bring jogging apparel, water and snacks. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle.

Gilroy – South Valley Music Makers once again celebrates music as enjoyment and as a medium for friendship Saturday, Aug. 19 from 1 to 4pm at the Music Academy, 7600 Church St.
Musicians at all levels of advancement, and in all styles are welcome to perform. Listeners are always welcome.

A Dream’
San Juan Bautista – The Gavilan Summer Theater Arts Repertory program, with director Javier Hurtado, in a play adaptation by Marilyn Abad Cardinalli presents an original adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” called “Life is a Dream” Friday, Aug. 11 and Saturday, Aug. 12 at 7:30pm at the El Teatro Campesino, San Juan Bautista. Waterfalls and wildlife hike
