The family of Stella Leon Castaneda would like to invite family and friends for a Memorial Mass that will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Gilroy on March 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
Don passed after a brief illness. He was happiest hunting and fishing or being with his family. He graduated in 1955 from Richmond High in Richmond, CA, where he was born and raised. He was an excellent salesman. He marrried Beverly on August 15,1959 and they had a wonderful life together. He had two great sons Don S. Pierce and Mike Pierce who he taught to be hunters and fishermen. The family moved to Gilroy in January of 1969. He is also survived by his mother Frances Pierce, sister Sue Williamson, brother Dennis Pierce, nephew Steve Williamson and niece Stephanie Becker and many relatives and friends.
On January 14, 2010, this earth lost a very special soul---Katherine (Kay) Lucido, Kay was 89 years old when she succumbed to kidney failure after a long and valiant fight, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Mario, daughters Maria Lucido of Monterey, Patty Lucido (Ray) Wiley of Colorado Springs, and three granddaughters: Christine Scagliotti of Monterey, Darien (Michael) Fleming of Boston, and Laura Wiley of Colorado Springs, as well as her nephew, Ray (Pat) Lucido of Carmel Valley who came to Hollister from Sicily in 1960 and lived with Kay and her family until his marriage a few years later. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Bernal of Morgan Hill, and half-siblings Robert (Melody) Johnson of Washington, and Barbara (Joel) Ardoin of Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Passed away in Elk Grove, CA on May 12, 2010, while he was at home surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynne, as well as his children; Bill Ladd, Kim Balazs, Cassie Ladd-Stobener, Carrie Ladd and Tina Gray. He was the cherished father-in-law of Lisa Ladd, Bela Balazs, Bob Stobener, Natalie Fuller and Karen McClaflin. His is also lovingly survived by his grandchildren; Dustin, Brandon, Megan, Michelle, Zachary, Kyle and Kelsey, as well as many other family members and friends. He was a San Francisco native and a 6 year resident of Elk Grove aged 72. He was CEO and President of Bolt Security Services in Santa Clara for over 25 years. He was a long-time member of Rotary International and was honored with a Paul Harris Fellow designation. He was President of the Alarm Dealers Association and a member of the Santa Clara Burgler and Fire Alarm Assocation. He was also the President San Benito Healthcare District Board of Directors. Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on May 19, 2010, at 1:00P.M., at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel, 2015 Capitol Ave., Sacramento. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and will be eventually interred at the "Punchbowl" – National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Grace Jane Greer passed away in Hollister at the age of 83. She was born in San Luis Obispo and moved to Hollister in 1926. She was a bookkeeper in the family owned auto parts business and was part owner. She was a graduate of San Benito High School, a member of The Grandmother's Club, a 50 year member of Athena Chapter Order of Eastern Star, liked gardening, cooking, spending time with her little dogs and playing cards and games with family and friends. She also attended St. Augustine's Anglican Church.
Edward (Curly) Woods 03/17/1923 - 11/18/2009 Edward (Curly) Woods March 17, 1923 - November 18, 2009 Edward (Curly) Woods passed away November 18, 2009 in Gilroy at the age of 86. He was born in El Dorado Springs, Missouri and also lived in Arizona, Washington and California. He is survived by his daughter Sandy Dylong of Washington and grandson Ryan Dylong and great grandson Austin Dylong. In 1952, Curly married Francis Ledon and became stepfather to Fred, George, Steve and Mary. He and Francis were married for 51 years until Frances passed away in 7/03. Edgar C. Scornaienchi passed away Monday morning at the age of 89 at the Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility. Funeral services are pending from Grunnagle- Ament-Nelson Funeral Home with a full obituary to appear in the newspaper later this week.
