Irene Macsuga

A resident of Gilroy for five years after moving from Detroit, MI to live with her surviving son, Donald. Irene also leaves several nephews; Frank, Louis, and Donald of OH and many grand and great-grandchildren in FL and NC. Irene fled the oncoming Nazi invasion of her homeland, Hungary, with her brother Louis in her teen years to settle in the mid west. She is also survived by many relatives and siblings still in Hungary.

Ernest C. Prewett

Ernest C. Prewett passed away at his Paicines home at the age of 97. He was born in Bear Valley and was a rancher. He married his wife, M. Rose Prewett in 1954 in Reno, NV and served in the US. Army during WWII.

Betty Frances Heinberg

Betty Frances Heinberg was born in Gardenia, CA on July 28, 1921 and passed away on July 11, 2010. A long time resident of Gilroy and Morgan Hill. The wife of the former Dean of Instruction at Gavilan College. Betty was a loving mother to Craig and Susan Heinberg who graduated respectively from UCLA and Stanford.

Jeanne Louise Martin

Jeanne Martin of Yucaipa, CA, formerly of Florence, OR, passed away at Redlands Community Hospital on June 9th, 2011, with her family present.

Russell H. Garrett

Russell H. Garrett. 79 years of age, resident of Hollister, and most recently, Morgan Hill, CA, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2009.

James W. Jones

James W. Jones, born May 24, 1921 and long time resident of San Martin (Gilroy Area) passed away March 4, 2009. He was 87 years old. Mr. Jones was a decorated WWII veteran and an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a cowboy. He had his pilot's license and loved flying his own plane. He was an agricultural inspector for both Santa Barbara and Santa Clara Counties. He leaves behind his beloved wife Natalie and daughter Kelly as well as his step-children Clay, Carla, and David; along with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, his sister Alice and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at San Martin Presbyterian Church (13200 Lincoln Ave.) at 3:00 P.M.

Thomas Francis Barry

Thomas Francis Barry was born December 22, 1923, the 2nd of 8 children in Queens, NY. He began his career in the banking business there, in Queens, working part time at age 16. Tom joined the Navy at age 18. He was stationed in Hollister during WWII, serving in Torpedo Squadron 33. His sea duty included the closing battles against Japan. He met and married his wife of 64 years, May Weatherly, while stationed here. Tom worked in the Hollister National Bank for many years. Later he helped start San Benito Bank where he worked until retirement. He was an avid tennis player into his 70s and was an ice hockey fan, enjoying watching the Sharks with May. Tom enjoyed creating and painting miniature soldiers and other figures.

Stanley Augustine Haugland

Stanley Augustine Haugland born March 14, 1929 in Cincinnati, OH to Ruth Joy and Augustine Haugland. He grew up in Tacoma, WA with his brother Renwick and sister Beverley. Stan joined the Marines at 17, and proudly served from 1946 to 1953.
