Harvey A. Scettrini died Nov. 14, 2002 at his home in Morgan Hill at the age of 82.

Born in San Luis Obispo on Sept. 19, 1920, Harvey worked on his father’s dairy farm in Gilroy until the attack on Pearl Harbor. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 20, and served in World War II from 1940-45. After returning home, he began a career driving semi trucks, which he continued until 1965. For the next 23 years he worked for the city of Morgan Hill, until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, and a member of Bolado Golf Course, Sirs and Elks. Harvey will always be remembered and loved by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Annie; sisters Catherine Silacci and Joanne Biafore and spouse Frank; sons Jimmy and Jerry Scettrini and Mike Hobbs; daughters Vickie Conner and spouse Mike, Christine Wood and spouse Gordon; grandchildren Richard and Robert Haun, Steven and Anna Hobbs, Heather, Jason, Brandi, Tasha; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Scettrini Jr. and son Rodney Hobbs.

Memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gilroy. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Gilroy Veterans of Foreign War.
