According to local kids, the Easter Bunny comes in all shapes,
colors and sizes
The Easter Bunny is not like Santa Claus.
Sure, there’s the obvious fact that they visit us at two different times of year. But, we know a lot about Santa. We know where he lives, who works for him, what he wears on his big night out and we even know that there’s a Mrs. Claus helping him run the show.
But we don’t know quite so much about the Easter Bunny – at least, grown-ups don’t. Grown-ups don’t even think about the Easter Bunny much, unless they have kids to remind them that he’s due for a visit soon.
So, in honor of the Easter Bunny coming out tonight to hide eggs for children to find tomorrow morning, we asked South Valley kids to talk about this very important rabbit. They described the Easter Bunny for us – what he looks like, what he wears and where he lives – to remind adults that Easter just isn’t the same without him.
– “I think that he’s a light fluffy bunny with a soft pink nose and he has big feet. I think he’s white, and he’s probably like a medium-sized bunny. He’s kind of tall and kind of short. He walks on two legs because he carries the gifts he brings to people. He can’t talk – I think he just wiggles his nose.
“Sometimes he hides my eggs outside, but other years he’ll hide them inside, and one year he just left us gifts. I think he leaves special things for special children, and if he wants to leave you something extra special, he’ll put it in a plastic egg.
“I’m not really sure how he gets in. That’s a really hard question. But, he can get in some way. Maybe through the garage or something. And after Easter, I think he digs a magical hole that leads him back to his special home. It’s in a special magic valley somewhere.”
– Molly Lowney, 8, of Gilroy
– “He’s white and he has a pink nose and pink inside his ears and big feet. He’s a tall bunny, but not that tall – he’s like a medium bunny. He walks on his back feet. Sometimes he hides (Easter eggs) outside, and sometimes he hides them inside. I’m not sure if he talks because when he’s here at night he’s very quiet. Very, very, very quiet.”
– Melyssa Spandri, 6, of Hollister
– “He’s all white and he’s real and he comes and puts baskets for people in the houses. He’s really big and he has white ears with pink inside. He has brown eyes and a pink nose. He has thick toes and big feet and he hops around. He has his fur so he doesn’t wear clothes, and he carries stuff in the pouch on his tummy. After Easter, he goes back to the forest into his rabbit hole.”
– Hailey Ojeda, 6, of Morgan Hill
– The Easter bunny is all white with brown ears and brown-and-white eyes. He’s about eight feet tall and he hops to get around. He has big ears and big feet and he carries around his eggs in a backpack on his back. When he hides the eggs, he digs and then hides them. After Easter, the Easter Bunny goes home to his rabbit hole.
– Caleb Ojeda, 4, of Morgan Hill
– “He’s white and he carries eggs filled with candy and money. He has really big ears and they’re really pointy. He has blue eyes and he has a big fat, giant nose that’s kind of a greenish-goldish color. He has big feet and a big fat stomach. When he brings really big baskets, those are the ones he puts in the garage. But he brings the other eggs in the house and then my mom hides them so she knows where they all are.”
– Grady Fiorio, 6, of Gilroy
– “He’s big and he has white fur. He has big ears and a pink nose and a black mouth. He has big feet with pink on the bottom. He doesn’t talk and he walks on two legs so he can carry his Easter basket and hide my eggs inside. He’s a grown-up size.”
– Emma Dorsey, 6, of Hollister
– The Easter Bunny is tall – not quite as tall as my parents, but close. He’s white with brown eyes and he walks on two legs and doesn’t wear any clothes because he has his fur. He has big ears, really big feet, a white bunny tail and long whiskers. He doesn’t talk and he’s so quiet, he’s never woken me up when he’s hidden eggs outside my house. He carries his eggs in a rainbow-colored Easter basket. He lives in a big, cozy house in a far away place.
– Alex Torres, 5, of Gilroy
– “I think he’s pink but he has a white tail and he has brown eyes and a pinkish white, kind of peachy, nose. He has big pointy ears and his feet are big so he can do good hopping. He walks on two legs, and I think he’s about four feet high. He wears clothes – probably clothes that matches his Easter stuff. He carries a basket with eggs and he hides them outside. He leaves a lot of stuff for me hidden in different places. Last year, he hided a chocolate bunny and a movie for me, too. (When Easter’s over,) he goes back and makes the eggs and stuff for next year at his egg factory.”
