He was 67.
A native of Gilroy, he attended St. Mary’s Grammar School and Bellarmine High School before earning a degree at University of Santa Clara.
Mr. Goicovich taught English at Watsonville High School for nearly 40 years.
He was also the head coach for boys’ basketball, girls’ softball and boys’ baseball. He was a long-time Dodger and Rams fan and had a passion for all sports. Ask him any sport’s trivia question, and he had the answer.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Yvonna of La Selva Beach; sons and their spouses, Mike and Vicki Goicovich of Gilroy, and John Goicovich and Elaine Sheff of Missoula, Mont.; three grandchildren, Aidan and Kai of Gilroy, and Gavin of Missoula.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30am, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Capitola.
All “Patatas” are encouraged to wear Hawaiian style attire to celebrate his love of Hawaii and his wacky sense of humor.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
Donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave., Capitola, Ca 95010.
