On June 15, the Gilroy/Morgan Hill Unified SWAT Team served two search warrants in connection with the shooting that took place on May 26, 2017, in the 6400 block of Hyde Park. The victim is currently recovering from the serious injuries he received that night.
The two warrants were served in the 7500 block of Rosanna Street and the 7500 block of Church Street. As a result, a juvenile male was arrested for his involvement. He was booked for attempted murder, mayhem, and assault with a deadly weapon. Stolen property that was linked to several local auto burglaries and thefts was recovered at both residences.
Another juvenile male, who was a suspect in the shooting, was arrested earlier in the week by Sunnyvale DPS and is currently in custody for conspiracy and weapons violations. He was later re-arrested at Juvenile Hall by Gilroy Police Department Detectives for his involvement with the shooting on Hyde Park. He was also charged with attempted murder, mayhem, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Although a total of three juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting, the case is still being actively investigated to identify any additional involved parties. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Gilroy Police Department at (408) 846-0350.
Police had come under fire on this case after holding the wrong people in custody for several hours, after a retired sheriff’s deputy mistakenly linked them to the crime.
