Dear Editor,
I live at 1170 Pueblo Ct., directly across the creek from the
new Christopher High School.
This morning I was awakened by bright headlights into my bedroom
patio doors at 5:40 a.m. from a construction crew that decided to
get a jump on the day and start working at the new school site at
5:40 a.m.
By 6:30, there was a fairly large crew already working and I
subsequently sent photos taken at 6:30 of the crew to the City of
Gilroy administration. I have complained about this to the Gilroy
Unified School District on prior occasions and have received no
responses, except
”
we’ll remind the crew.
”
Christopher High construction consideration would go a long way
Dear Editor,

This morning I was awakened by bright headlights into my bedroom patio doors at 5:40 a.m. from a construction crew that decided to get a jump on the day and start working at the new school site at 5:40 a.m.

I live on the small court that faces what I believe to be the back of the new student parking lot. There are approximately 8 to 10 houses on this small court that are directly affected by the building going on at the school site. While we understand the importance of a new high school in Gilroy, and we have been very supportive of these efforts, it would be nice if we were given some sort of consideration during the construction process.
We have asked on multiple occasions that the trees that are currently planned along that creekside be planted in advance so that it would in some small way provide a sound and dust barrier for our homes. We have literally had no responses at all to our requests. I realize that this process started prior to Superintendent Debbie Flores coming to Gilroy and her predecessor’s lack of response should not be held against her. However, I am asking Superintendent Flores to consider the directly effected neighbors of the new high school and the effect that the construction has on our homes and lives. We are not asking for much, except a little consideration.

Village Green an outstanding part of Gilroy thanks to the caregivers
Dear Editor,
One of the greatest benefits to living in a small community is that people care. We recently lost our mother after a fairly length struggle with Alzheimer’s. For the last four years Mom was a resident of Village Green seniors community.
She first began independent living at the Village Green Cottages where she was welcomed and looked after by her new, yet dear neighbors. Too soon after, she moved to the Assisted Care facility and ultimately to the Memory Care facility.
At every step, she was cared for by the compassionate Village Green caregivers who treated her with dignity and respect as if she were their own.
So with the deepest sincerity and gratitude, we thank Franco Mola, Eileen Yurek and the many caregivers of Village Green who acted as our extended family throughout Mom’s final stay. Gilroy should be proud to have such an asset.

It’s fun to learn new things, make new friends and be a Boy Scout
Dear Editor,
I am 8 years old and was a Tiger Cub Scout in Gilroy, Pack 794. I started being a Tiger Cub Scout when I started first grade. I learned so much last year. I have made many new friends and have enjoyed being part of this big group.
We learned new things and had a lot of fun! We invented contraptions to put raw eggs in so they would not crack when we dropped them 35 feet! My egg survived!
We also learned how to make water rockets and shot them up in the air to see whose rocket was in the air the longest. We put on a skit for our pack, too!
I have never put on a skit before and it was fun to do that in front of so many people, and everyone thought it was really funny.
We also discovered new things by going on tours to different places in our community. We learned about being outside by taking hikes at different places around our area. We were also encouraged to do fun and special activities with our families. And, the most important thing was that we were taught how to have good character, always do our best, help our country, and help other people.
I have now advanced from being a Tiger Cub Scout to being a Wolf Cub Scout. I am very excited and look forward to another fun year of learning and growing.
If any boy would like to join the Boy Scouts I think it would be a great thing for them to do. All you have to do is go to www.scouting.org. All of the information is there to sign up to be a scout.
And, Gilroy Pack 794 is the best! The kids are great and the leaders are dedicated, enthusiastic, fun, and kind!
