Community Solutions’ Anita Wilson was presented with the 2012 Legal Advocate of the Year award by the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence last weekend, according to a press release from Community Solutions which is based in Gilroy.
The Partnership presents this award annually to an “exceptional individual” who has made significant contributions to the ongoing task of ending domestic violence, according to the press release.
“We are extremely proud to have Anita Wilson recognized on a statewide level” said Erin O’Brien, President & CEO of Community Solutions. “Every day of the 23 years she has worked at Community Solutions, she has fully dedicated her efforts and her heart to the women and children we serve whose lives have been ravaged by domestic violence. She is a passionate and tireless advocate for each of them.”
Wilson has dedicated more than 28 years to supporting and assisting survivors of intimate partner violence in a number of capacities. She was instrumental in the creation of the Watsonville Defense de Mujeres Legal Program, the press release said.
As a seasoned legal advocate, Wilson provides mentorship, guidance and support to new advocates and provides advocacy services to more than 100 domestic violence survivors each year.
