Dear Editor,
In Dale Morejon’s latest suspension of logic, he says I am “clueless concerning (teachers’) merit pay” and claims I “lay at the feet of Schwarzenegger the politician.”
I have never mentioned the upcoming merit-pay ballot proposition. Although I have a definite “yes” on the other three of the governor’s initiatives, I remain undecided on that one. I described an evaluation system that was successfully implemented at a private high school; even before they severed all ties with me, there was no “political agenda.”
I couldn’t care less if “the Rand Corporation’s report said California public education is under-funded.” Considering how private schools do so much better on half the per-pupil budget, I have doubts about such a report. What does concern me is how this state is so deep in the red we ALREADY pay a fortune in property tax, sales tax and income tax. All you do is bellyache about Gov. Schwarzenegger when you should take it up with the Democrat-infested legislature.
