Meet Mr. Versatility. This year, Jared Gamm was named first team all–league in football, participated in the South Valley Church Youth Group, worked for the City of Gilroy as a basketball and soccer referee and will graduate with a 3.98 GPA.
Not to mention he still makes time for his family and friends.
Next fall, he will attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, as a biology major with the intent to walk on to the football team.
Gamm plans to pursue a career in medicine as either a general practitioner or pediatrician.
He adheres to a strict life philosophy: “I try to be a nice person on a day to day basis. I get along with everybody. I just like being positive. … I try to smile a lot,” Gamm said shyly.
And he has a lot to smile about.
Gamm was named to the National Honor Roll and Principal’s lists, as well as earning five scholarships worth a combined $5,000, including the Governor’s Scholar Award, Dennis DeBell Memorial Scholarship, Rod Kelley Memorial Scholarship, Paul E. Thompson Memorial Scholarship, Rudy Melone Memorial Scholarship, the GHS Quarterback Club scholarship and he was recognized as a Distinguished Athlete at the Senior Awards Night.
The humble back and free safety was named “Mr. Versatility” by his coaches for the second year in a row.
“My family is really important to me,” he said mentioning his parents and three sisters. “They’ve contributed to a lot to my success growing up. My mom’s always placed a high priority on academics.”
