Firefighters snuff vegetation blaze near Christmas Hill Park
Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire that broke out around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy, according to Jim Crawford, battalion chief for the South Santa Clara County Fire District and CalFire.
Dog found with a brick tied to its legs in Uvas Creek
A small honey-colored dog was found three days ago in Uvas Creek in Christmas Hill Park with her head barely above the water because a brick had been tied with rope to her small hind legs, said Hector Beltran who rescued the pup.

DUI arrest revoked
Delia Reveles Centeno, 61 of Gilroy, was stopped by police for suspicion of driving under the influence July 10, but no arrest was made nor any charges were filed because it could not be proven Centeno was above the legal limit, according to the District Attorney’s office on July 26.

Police finish investigation into owner of aggressive pit bull
The Gilroy Police Department has concluded their investigation into the owner who fled the scene when his pit bull attacked a dachshund at Starbucks on First Street on July 14, causing the dachshund to be euthanized and causing non-life threatening injuries to its owner.
Hit-and-run on Hecker Pass Highway
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate a hit-and-run car crash that occurred in the area Hecker Pass Highway and Watsonville Road about 2:20 on Thursday. As of Friday morning, the suspect has not been caught.
