900 marijuana plants discovered during theft arrest

Three Gilroy residents were arrested around 3 a.m. this morning for drug possession when they were allegedly found driving a car on the 7100 block of Rosanna Street so packed with marijuana that the trunk would not close.

Day care teacher charged with dosing children’s sippy cups

A South County pre-school teacher was charged today with 10 misdemeanors after a fellow teacher discovered that she had dosed toddlers’ sippy cups with sleeping pills, according to authorities.

Twenty-eight citations issued during DUI/License checkpoint

The results are in from the recent DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint conducted by Gilroy Police Department’s Traffic Unit on April 19 in Gilroy. Approximately 550 cars drove through the checkpoint, according to Gilroy PD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza. One driver was arrested for DUI; a second driver was arrested for a felony warrant; 20 citations were issued to drivers for driving unlicensed; and eight citations were issued to drivers driving on a suspended license.
