Mary O. Shackelford died in Walnut Creek on Dec. 30, 2006. She was born in San Jose, CA ,and was 83 years old. She graduated from Salinas High School in 1941 and then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in San Francisco. She worked for several doctors' offices and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She married her husband, Robert, in 1944 in San Francisco and lived most of their life in Salinas and 10 years in Hollister. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Salinas and Sacred Heart/St. Benedict Church in Hollister and also a member of The Entrenous Society.
Gale E. Brandhorst passed away in Newman. A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, January 6, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.
Fred Anthony Arena passed away Tuesday evening at the age of 48 in Hollister. A native of Illinois, Fred had lived in Santa Cruz for over 10 years, coming to Hollister 2-½ years ago. Fred was an alarm technician with First Alarm. He was an avid HOG member.
Fred E Schuenemann passed away in Santa Cruz Thursday morning at the age of 84. He was born in Wisconsin, and lived in Capitola for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation Machinest mate 1st class. He was a member of the American Legion Monterey Post #41 and Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship of Monterey.
Robert C. Fernandes died in Watsonville, CA, on Dec. 28, 2006, at the age of 82. He was born in Concord and lived in Hollister for many years. He also lived in Fallon, NV, for several years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and was a rancher and was an avid welder and liked woodworking. He was a WWII veteran serving honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Aliph Fernandes, who died in 2002.
John D. Franco, former resident of San Juan Bautista, passed away last Saturday. Survived by beloved wife, Amelia, of San Jose, sons; John, Andrew, Joseph, Paul, Stephen, daughter Rebecca, numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.
