Sybil Bernice Sammons passed away November 5th at her residence in Los Banos after a long period of failing health. Sybil was a native of Whitewater, New Mexico, lived in Hollister from 1976 until 1996 at which time she moved to Los Banos to be with her family. Sybil was a homemaker most of her life and cherished the time she could spend with her children and grandchildren. She was very active in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Hollister as well as in Los Banos. "Reading her bible and going to church was her passion" ,said her daughter Javana. Sybil was the spouse of the late Gene Sammons who passed away August 1994. Sybil is survived by her children and their spouses Eunice Bowen of Kelseyvillle, CA; Travis and Shauna Sammons, Johnny and Sylvia Sammons of WA; Marvin and Vicki Sammons of PA; and Javana Sammons of Los Banos; and her daughter in law Laurel Sammons of AZ, spouse of the late Ferran Sammons. She leaves a brother Robert Brazil of NM, a sister Dorothy Shafer of Lakeport, CA, sister in law Margie Slagle of AZ.; her grandchildren Chevon, Macon, Leif, John Jr. , Richard, Cindy, Jolene Bernie, Rusty, Ronnie, Jody, and Jenny Sammons; Tara Thompson, Crystal Deboldt; Steven and David Wade.; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister on Thursday November 9th from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Family and friends will leave the mortuary chapel Friday morning at 10:15 A.M. to attend the funeral service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church 2121 Sunnyslope Rd., Hollister at 11:00 A.M. Private cremation will follow with inurnment at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Donations are preferred to Hines Hospice Of Merced c/o the mortuary chapel.
Long time Hollister resident Simon P. Ybarra passed away at his residence suddenly November 3rd at the age of 89 years. Mr. Ybarra graduated from Barber College in San Francisco in 1953, interned one year in Watsonville in 1954, before establishing himself in Hollister, where he cut hair for 53 years. Simon was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and the Hollister Lions Club. He loved to play golf at the Bolado Golf Course and was a former member of the Bolado Men's Club.
LOUIE AGUILAR, 51, passed away at his home Friday morning, November 3, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Louie was preceded in death by his father Manuel Aguilar and brother Stevie Aguilar. He is survived by his wife Tara Aguilar of Gilroy, son of Margarita Aguilar of Gilroy, father of Lydia, Sonia, Louie Jr., & Mike Aguilar, all of San Jose, Jesse & Janay Aguilar, both of Gilroy ,and Carlos Magallanez of Gilroy, brother of Frank, Joe & Johnny Aguilar, Nellie and Mario Razo, Stella , Susie, Sylvia, Norma & Gracie Aguilar & Amalia and Robert Garza all of Gilroy, grandfather of Marc, Jr., Rosilyn, and Audrey. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also had many friends in Gilroy. He was a native of Arizona.
Enamarie Bernier passed away in Hollister. She was born in Bode, Iowa and came to Hollister from Florida in 1946. She served her country honorably in the Navy during WWII, served as a volunteer with Hazel Hawkins Auxilliary, was a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and was active in Girl Scouts of America.
Valentino Caudillo, Jr. passed away in Modesto. He was born in Phoenix, AZ and lived all of his life in Hollister. He was a sheetmetal worker, an avid Oakland Raider fan and attended Old Mission San Juan Bautista.
