Two alleged gang members tried to beat up and robbed a juvenile
while he waited for the bus Friday night, police said. Police later
arrested one of the suspects when he sought treatment for wounds at
the same hospital where the victim was being treated.
Two alleged gang members tried to beat up and robbed a juvenile while he waited for the bus Friday night, police said. Police later arrested one of the suspects when he sought treatment for wounds at the same hospital where the victim was being treated.
About 11:10 p.m., a juvenile from San Jose assaulted a San Jose juvenile, whose name was withheld, who was at the transit bus stop at 8500 block of Monterey Street, police said. Another unknown male also drove up, got out of the car and also assaulted the victim. Both men made indications that they were in gangs.
The first assailant actually saw the victim Thursday and assaulted him, then asked the victim about his gang affiliations, police said. The assailant then left the area.
On Friday, the suspect returned, and the victim readied for a fight, police said. The suspect then yelled a gang slogan and attacked the victim, but the victim was able to defend himself.
At this point, the second, unknown male drove up and assaulted the victim while yelling gang slogans. One of the two suspects also stabbed the victim in the upper half of his body during the fight. The suspects then took money and some of the victim’s clothing.
The victim went to an area hospital to get treated for his non-life threatening wounds, police said. However, the young suspect also went to the hospital to get treated for non-life threatening wounds, but officers there recognized the suspect and arrested him. The victim also later confirmed that the juvenile was the person who tried to beat him up.
The suspect was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, police said.
