Incidents in the Gilroy Police Department press report occurred between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4 and include suspicious circumstances, gang assaults, grand theft and DUI. 

Suspicious circumstances

-An unknown male, Jan. 30 at 11:20 a.m. at Gilroy High School, located near the intersection of Princevalle and 10th streets, followed a 15-year-old female as she was walking to school. At one point, the male exited his vehicle and asked the female her name. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 20s, 5 to 6 feet tall with short black short hair and blue eyes.

Burglary

-Unknown suspects, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. near Murray Avenue in Gilroy entered someone’s yard and stole generators, chainsaws and leaf blowers.

Vandalism

-Unknown suspects, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. near Alexander Street in Gilroy slashed the tires of a victim’s vehicle.

Narcotics

-Raymond Rosales, 29, Jan. 31 at 12:08 p.m. near Church Street and Las Animas Avenue in Gilroy was arrested for possession of methamphetamines.

-Mason Guastamachio, 18, was arrested Feb. 1 at 1:20 p.m. on Hirasaki Court for being an adult student in possession of marijuana on a school campus.

Grand theft

-Three unknown suspects, Jan. 31 at 8:54 p.m. stole five pairs of sunglasses from a store at the Gilroy Outlets on Leavesley Road and ran out the door. The suspects were last seen driving a black Audi registered out of Gilroy.

Burglary

-An unknown suspect, Feb. 1 at 9 a.m. near Kelton Drive entered a room and took five laptop computers.

Petty theft

-Donna Tetherow, 49, Feb. 2 at 1:33 p.m. near East 10th Street for shoplifting $58 worth of various items.

-Four female adults, Feb. 2 at 8:28 p.m. entered Wal-Mart in Gilroy and stole approximately $400 worth of clothing. The females were captured by Loss Prevention and placed under citizen’s arrest. One of the females was released to medical personnel and another released to care for the children they had with them, after being issued a citation. The other two were transported and booked into jail.

Trespassing

-Manfred Geister, 55, Feb. 1 at 1:28 p.m. near Montebello Drive in Gilroy for being found on the premises after being warned not to come back.

DUI

-James Krepps, 53, Feb. 1 at 2:43 p.m. near the intersection of Monterey and Second streets in Gilroy for driving under the influence and crashing his 1999 Ford.

-Juan Garcia Ramos, 28, Feb. 3 at 1:33 a.m. was stopped near the intersection of Chestnut and Seventh streets in Gilroy for a mechanical violation and found to be under the influence.

Resisting arrest

-Fernando Zepeda, 33, Feb. 1 at 5:26 p.m. near the intersection of West Eighth and Hanna streets in Gilroy for resisting arrest. Zepeda fled on his bicycle after a traffic enforcement stop was initiated for vehicle code violations. Zepeda was followed to his residence and was arrested after he was found in the backyard.

Assault

-Five unknown suspects, Feb. 1 at 9:31 p.m. near the intersection of Church and West 10th streets attacked the victims as they were walking back from 7-Eleven. Both victims sustained bruising about their face and head. Police say the attack was gang related.

-A reporting party called police Feb. 2 at 4:45 p.m. and reported a “rolling” domestic disturbance near Camino Arroyo and Renz Lane in Gilroy. The vehicle was located traveling west near Sixth and Church streets. The driver was arrested for battery and DUI.

-On Jan. 31 around 1 p.m. near Liman Avenue in Gilroy, a cohabitating couple was involved in a mutual arguing/pushing incident. Both sustained injuries. The case was sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Drunk in public

-Giovanni Rodriguez, Feb. 2 at 9:31 p.m. near Eigleberry Street for trying to get into several apartments via the windows. Rodriguez was contacted by police and displayed the objective symptoms of intoxication. He was arrested without incident.

Auto burglary

-An unknown suspect, Feb. 2 at 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Fifth and Monterey streets smashed a victim’s car window and stole a bag containing an iPad, cell phone and Sony video game.
